Operation Christmas Child

  • What is Operation Chirstmas Child?
    • Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan's Purse, an international relief organization. Their mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. These gifts are shipped outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.
  • How can I contribute to this Mission?
    • It's easy! All it takes is five steps!
      • 1. Get a shoebox! There will be Operation Christmas Child boxes available for free in the book nook. Any box the size of a shoebox that can close will do!
      • 2. Decide on the age and gender of the child you are preparing the box for. This ensures that the gifts you choose for your box will be sent to a child who will really enjoy them. The age categories are 2-4, 5-9, and 10-14.
      • 3. Fill the box with gifts! Below is a list of recommended items for your box. You can even include a photo of your family and a handwritten letter!
        • Please Note: Toothpaste and candies are no longer allowed to be put into boxes.
      • 4. Pray for the child who will receive your shoebox! First and foremost, Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pray that children around the world may come to know him.
      • 5. Donate! Each box requires a nine dollar donation to cover shipping costs for the boxes. It also covers the printing of materials that present the Gospel to children around the world! You can make your donation online at the Operation Christmas Child website, or you can include the donation inside of your box!
  • How do we send our shoeboxes?
    • Bring your completed box to Ken Mawr and drop it off in the Children's Ministry Office. The national collection day is the week of November 18th. Please have your box turned in by the 18th.
