Music and Technology Report

2024

Colossians 3: 15-17

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Believing we are called to serve God through music and worship, we give all praise to God for the opportunity to sing, play instruments and honor God with music.  We are thankful for the technology that allows us to share our worship services to those who are unable to be here in person, and we are grateful for all those who are part of the music and technology team.

The Ken Mawr Choir prepares for worship by practicing on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 September – May.  We rehearse before worship in June and August.  The choir prepares special music seasonally, especially for the Maundy Thursday service.  We are grateful for the gifted professional musicians who also enhance the music ministry – Adam Kantz, percussion; Mitchell Fleischman, bass; George Hoydich, flute; Katie Benson, cello; Eric Baker, violin,  Alex Weibel, guitar; Jim Heckethorn, piano and organ; Lauren Grieco, piano; and Vicky Benson, piano.  Thank you Cameron Brown, Anne Chimera and Adam Kantz for your leadership in live stream, podcast and audio technology that is a blessing to those at home.

Our student musicians presented music both in worship and during the Sunday School program.  Thank you so much for sharing your talent and gifts this year!  Izzy Baldauff, flute; Aundraya Schoppe, flute; Leah Shrader, mallets; Mabel Benson, trumpet; Lorenzo Roberts, trumpet and piano;  Abi Baldauff, trumpet; Logan Madura, trumpet; Wyatt Bucek, piano; Scarlett Viskovicz; voice; Seth Baldauff, euphonium; Jacob Lemasters, tuba.

Music Camp at Camp Lambec in July welcomed 122 campers this year and 30 staff members.  Ken Mawr campers included: Ceclia Benson, Malia Harris, Logan Madura, Megan Soisson, Mabel Benson, Lorenzo Roberts, Izzy Baldauff, Danielle Harris, Alison Soisson, Kaley Madura, Seth Baldauff, Garrett Lieder, Noah Halaja, Emily Rishell, Andrew Vadas, Abi Baldauff, Adalyn Bell, Wyatt Bucek, Aubrey Hinden, Aundraya Schoppe, Leah Shrader, Lillian Rishell, Brooke Baxter.  Volunteers – Chrissy Cannella, Kristen Brown, Adam Kantz, Jonas Halaja, Lucas Swearingen, Pastor Karl and Jayne McDonald

We look forward to continuing to serve the Lord through music in 2025.
